Google Employees Munching in the Office

google munchiesJust the other year, Google had an in-house MM issue to take care of.  Just like the case has been for many other internet dilemmas, the internet giant had to get professionals to swing into action in order to find out what really was the problem.

Apparently, research has shown that employees at Google were eating lots of free candy and such-like fast foods at work. As such, the company surmised that such a trend might adversely hinder the company efforts to keep their employees happy and healthy.

In that case therefore, in what was commonly referred to as the MM project, Google started up a research or survey to find out more about snacking patterns among employees both in house and in the field.  The survey was intended at finding out why employees were more of inclined towards eating candy rather than the healthier food stuffs.

The research team kept chocolates in opaque containers but still prominently displayed dried pistachios, figs and a range of other healthy snacks in jars.  The result of the study in New York alone showed that 3.1 million employees consumed fewer calories from the MMs over the first seven weeks. That represented a decrease of about nine vending machine sized packages of MMs for every office that accommodated 2,000 employees.

Through this research, the internet giant seems to be taking its own medicine so as to remedy this situation which seems to be affecting most of its in-house operations.  At least, by keeping employees of candy and such-like foodstuffs, munching in the office has been largely reduced. This has resulted in increased levels of productivity among the 40,000 or so employees or so that the company hosts.

As much as many companies across the globe give incentives in form of snacks, Google is moving from that type of business. They have rather embarked on breaking down everything into crunchable data and that includes sizable plates while at work.

Oncue Intel TV – Intel in the TV game?

oncue intel tvIntel is best known as a chip maker for desktops and laptops. For years, the tech giant has supplied millions of microprocessors to personal computers across the globe. Yet anyone in the industry knows that success is fleeting and continuous innovation is required to stay on top.

Intel’s latest bid for advancement seems to have pushed the company towards the home entertainment space. Here the company is set to grab the spotlight and release its own consumer product called the OnCue Intel TV.

OnCue is meant to be a replacement for the existing set-top boxes given by cable providers. Content will be streamed over the Internet and subscribers will enjoy a more responsive user interface.

A new division, Intel Media, was tasked to develop the product and handle negotiations with cable networks. Its operations have been isolated from the rest of the company to try to keep things a secret for as long as possible. Of course, the media eventually got wind of it and now Intel appears to be ready to spill a few details about the project.

Intel gave a tentative launch date this fall, if everything goes according to plan. It isn’t ready to announce the networks that will get on board except to say that they are casting a wide net. There will be customized bundles but people will not be able to fine-tune their subscriptions to individual channels.

Intel is taking a cautious approach with regards to the rollout. The service will initially be made available to certain cities then others will be added incrementally.

Asked about the subscription rates, Intel indicated that these will not differ much from current cable offerings. There are no concrete numbers at this point but the company gave assurances that the cost of the OnCue Intel TV box itself won’t be prohibitive.

The couple had separated and this is a huge blow for Google. The couple got hitched even before Google became a verb. It was Susan Wojcicki, the elder sister of Anne and the sixteenth employee of Google who introduced Anne to Brin. Susan’s contribution to Google was immense, in fact she was given the title of the most important ‘Googler’.

Only Five Years Old and Chrome has a Promising Future!

chrome-browserGoogle officially launched Google Chrome on September 2, 2008. It’s hard to believe that five years has already gone by and Chrome is having its fifth birthday.

What a birthday celebration it will be to. This is because Google Chrome turns 5, and despite this fact, it is still going very strong. Google Chrome is still the most used of all browsers in the world. So, with this said, what will its future be like after turning the big five?

Well, the answer to this question is very clear, and that is this awesome browser
will only improve with the passage of time.  When Google Chrome arrived on the scene back in 2008. The outlook for Internet browsers was not a very good one. This is because Internet Explorer 7 was the biggest and most used Internet browser going at that time. Internet Explorer 7 had been released two years ahead of Google Chrome and only commanded about 67 of the market. Firefox 3 was also trying to get its foot in the door at
this time, as well.

However, when Google Chrome made its appearance, it blew all of the other browsers away. This is because Google Chrome was new and different. It had a very different approach than the traditional Internet Explorer 7 and Firefox 3. Google Chrome first came in a beta version, but people already could see, it was going to be something very special and totally unlike other online browsers.

The three things which set aside from other browsers, and which has been copied by others, is its single bar for practically everything for one. The other two things is its light
and elegant design. Also, it has an incognito mode, which allows a user to browse privately if they wish. Google Chrome was truly revolutionary. So, what does the future of Google Chrome look like, on its 5th birthday?

The answer to this question is obvious. Google Chrome turns 5, but for a very long time yet, it will remain alive. This is because it is a unique way to search and to everything you need to do online. It can only get better from here and keep right on improving. Happy Birthday Google Chrome and Many Many More!

Is speeding a right, or a privilege? New car says neither!

UK Speed Limiters

Speed Limiters Coming Soon?

The EU is making plans to create cars that will automatically keep drivers under the speed limit. Cameras and satellites would be synced with the automatic braking system of the car to slow it down if the driver tries to go over the limit. This technology would be implemented in the latest cars, although older cars may also be required to get detecting sensors fitted.

In the UK, many officials are pushing for all cars to be outfitted with these devices. This would mean that no car would be able to go over the 70mph speed limit on UK highways. For Germany, the speed limit could possibly be lifted on sections of the Autobahn where cars can go as fast as they want.

The European Commission is expected to make this proposal sometime during autumn. This idea has several opponents however, simply because people don’t want to be Buy Levitra forced into following the rules by their own car. Building cars that cannot speed would be the equivalent to having a miniaturized “Big Brother” with you every time you drive.

In EU nations around 30,000 people are killed in road accidents. The European Commission feels that it is necessary to implement ISA (Intelligent Speed Adaption) technology to save lives and make drivers more disciplined. They estimate that by 2020 ISA can reduce car deaths by one-third.

European countries are already famous for have some of the best road safety records in the world, but the introduction of ISA will take things to a whole new level. However, traffic experts say that ISA also includes plenty of risks. If you take away a car’s ability to get out of a dangerous situation with a quick speed burst, such as quickly overtaking another car to prevent a crash, you will increase the risk of head-on collision.

Step 4.  Add your fax number like you would an email, like this…  2064445555@rcfax.com
Step 5.  Attach any documents
Step 6.  Click Send… That’s all there is to it.

That might seems a little too simple.  So let me go into a little more detail.

Your gmail address you entered during the fax service sign-up process will ultimately be the gmail address where you will be able to send and receive faxes.

After RingCentral is set up, you can begin faxing when you click on the “Compose Mail” link within Google’s email client. Documents that will be faxed via this method are included via the use of the attachment function within your email.

Rather than addressing your documents to another email address, you simply enter your fax number like in the example above.

TIP:  When giving your fax number to people in general, don’t tell them it is a digital fax.  While the numbers work the same, people do not perceive them the same.  A digital fax is actually several times more reliable than an analog (traditional) fax.

To check for new faxes, all you have to do is go to your inbox… and that’s it.  Your faxes will be there for you.  You might want to setup a folder for them to copy to. (copy, not move…you want to make sure you see them first)

Let me know if you have any trouble setting things up.  I’m usually available from the LiveChat widget at the bottom of the page.
